It’s starting to get a little more chilly outside so lets begin fall with this wonderful cardigan pattern! The texture is so touch provoking and I think you’ll really like how the construction of this project goes.
Today on the Blog, we have our newest Yarn Punk to bring you said pattern. Say hello to Jessica from Sun and Stitch! Today, shes showing us how to create this crochet project – The Beachcomber Cardigan! Please welcome Jessica after learning a little bit more about her and be sure to give her some love of her side of the internet!
“Hi there! I’m Jess from Sun Sand Stitch. I am an avid crocheter and crafter. I have been crocheting for almost 5 years now and I just started designing in August 2018 when I started my blog. I am a college student studying environmental science and biology. Crocheting for me began as a hobby in my spare time to give me a creative outlet and break from everyday life. I found it relaxing and enjoyable to create all these projects from just a crochet hook and yarn. This past year I really found my niche of crocheting garments. I love to create wearable items. I base my design style on what I would actually wear. Everything I make is something that I use and/or wear. I didn’t want to create designs based on what was popular in fashion. My style doesn’t usually follow popular fashion trends. I have grown up being that tomboy girl who would be outside running around with the boys and who would dress in pretty plain outfits that were just based on comfort. Some of my designs will have a bit of feminine touches but nothing I would consider “girly”.
A few little fun facts about me:
- I am born and raised in sunny San Diego (which is where Sun and Sand come from in my business name)
- I have a passion for animals and conservation. My dream job (besides crocheting full-time!) would be working for a zoo.
- Two of my favorite foods that I couldn’t live without are pasta and ice cream.
- I love the show Friends and I could probably quote most (or all!) of the episodes I’ve seen it so many times.
- My favorite style of music is classic rock. I love listening to Boston, Eagles and Led Zeppelin.

Assembly Images

Sweater laid out before sewing. Note that this image shows the inside of the sweater. Upon folding the “waffle” look will be on the outer side.

Sweater folded in half just before sewing. Sewing will begin on the bottom of the piece up to the top (leaving room for the arm holes). The pattern will specify how many stitches to skip to allow openings for the arm holes for each size.
